Phil Spector, why wasn't it in the movies?

Last night I saw the film on Phil Spector, the film witch depicted the famous court case which thrilled the media. First, it was amazing. The best film of 2013 so far, for sure. You question why wasnt it in the movies.

Al Pacino is just amazing and you fall in love with his depiction of the eccentric Phil Spector. Not forgetting Helen Mirren's incredible performance, as Phil Spectors defendant you really do believe in his innocence. The little reference and comments on Phil Spectors career just adds to the enjoyment. "Did you get angry at Paul" "Well he proved me right with Let It Be". The tense point where Phil walks in with his afro and claims its a homage to the struggles of Jimi Hendrix. Just brilliant.

Its spark new intrest in the trail of Phil Spector and might even help to his release. I am fully in love with the film and its roles, i highly surgest you find it on the internet and watch it. Because its worth a 7€ cinema ticket!

Keith Allen, hero

Keith Allens book, Grow Up. Is just what you want a biography to be, honest down to earth and funny. And what makes the book incredible is, he has lived through a lot, he lived the 60's young and was in the 70's at 18. He was there in london 1977 with the clash. in the 80's he was in New Order's sphere. The 90's he was in the amazing trio of Damien Hisrt and Alex James of Blur. And his even got the noughties behind him too. The book goes through his troubled and brilliant relations with family and friends. Honest stories of drugs and sex. Touching moments with children (Alfie Allen, Lilly Allen). A tear jerking story of Strummers death. Of course talks of what he actually dose other than being famous. Is his interesting acting skills, his comedian skills and his incredible band Fat Les responsible for all the best football songs. And theres plenty of naked stories to keep you entertained. Defiantly read, his a hero!

Lysandre reviewed

So few weeks ago i mentioned the return of Christopher Owens. So here is the review of Lysandre. Its a tricky album to get into the first song is a boring, but its only 40 seconds to bare. After that, the album delves in all sorts style (guitar solos, sax solos) . Here We Go which you should of herd by now is a brilliant start and New York City is a touch of brilliant work. Its not as good as Girls but its excited and new. He now dresses in suits and it sounds like it. Its grown up, and deep. But the album is a great story and travel through Christopher's 2010 including a recored plane taking off. I highly suggest it, but don't get scared from the first listen, its a bit of a drag at first. But defiantly a grower and after third listen you feel the brilliance, check it out

Edgar Wright

Edgar Wright is the brilliant director behind Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and most recently Scott Pilgrim vs The World. His action packed funny films are really done well. My favorite being Hot Fuzz its quick scenes remind's me of Requiem for a Dream pill taking scenes. Just brilliant. Though gotta remember Simon Peggs brillance in his films, though ill talk bout that another time. His now filming his new film hoping to be out this year, and I cant wait. Check out his films if not yet

Sugar

It 's a brilliant story. And really well made. Searching for Sugar Man looks at the musician Rodriguez and how he is dearly loved in South Africa and not in USA. They talk about how his album was just brilliant better then Dylan's stuff. They never understood why it didn't sell in America. Well it seemed pretty clear to me. He was to late. Releasing his music in 1970. No one cared for folk music in 1970. Dylan had gone electric in 1965. Of course he wasn't gonna sell. He was out of fashion. However its still an uplifting great story. And Rodriguez whatever popularity or in fashion or out of fashion, his still a good dam cool guy

After You; just amazing

Maybe the last recording we will hear from Pulp for at least a long time. and it is just amazing. produced by  LCD Soundsystems James Murphy. its popy and classic pulp. written back in 2001 and recorded in november. just shows Pulp have still got it. Pulp have always been a bit underrated compared with other nostalgic acts such as Blur. but this songs just shows how good they still are. one of the best tunes of 2012

The Idiots

This film is just brilliant. It sends you from laughing to questioning and to being disturbed. Its a real experience. I highly suggest it. from the director and writer the famous Lars Von Trier. Its about a group of people who pretend to be retarded to show how retarded people are treated. and that being retarded is a happy state of mind. its well done and cleaver, you see your self sitting on the tube pulling retarded faces because of the film. check it out

Behind The Best; Leif

Leif Podhajsky the artist is literally everywhere. You properly didn't know it was him. Because his names in the small print. But nearly any hip band has his art work on their Album cover. His done most significantly Tame Impala, Lykke Li, Foals and newbies Splashh and TOY. His art is dreamy psychedelic and really now. One of my favorites is The Horrors new album Higher (below). He works for big record companies and properly makes big dollar. Yeah we always want bands to be behind everything in their art. but i don't mind Leif doing it. His great. (Click the bands names to see his art work)

But hows that gonna develop? vice did a good video on him if you wanna check him out further

Wolfgang Tillmans bit of a bluff

Wolfgang Tillmans from germany is a acclaimed photographer having won the turner prize and exhibited everywhere. I checked him out at Morderna Museet in Stockholm with some friends on sunday. and his a bit of bluff. yeah his got some great pictures. my favorites posted here. but the rest are either shit, or just boring. he seems to take a picture of everything, his got no style and no direction. nothing wrong with taking a picture of everything, just dont show all of them. at the exhibition each visitor did get one of his books which is pretty nuts. but could chuck half the pictures out

All photos scanned from Wolfgang Tillmans book

Clever Spurlock

The man who brought us super size me Morgan Spurlock, brings another clever funny interesting film/documentary. where he looks into advertisements and product placment. Its pretty amazing what people do to make us buy stuff. he looks at it a different way and try's to show how it works. by making a film about product placement only funded by produced placement. you start to worry a little and just wanna move to sao paulo, great experience. should defiantly check it out, makes you question a lot

The Only One With A Camera

Gavin Watson's book Skins is literally the only full photo account of the skinheads in Britain in 1980's. He catches each person great and with humor. all in black and white it feels like the english Larry Clark tulsa with out the grittiness. Thank god he had that camera to capture the times makes for a brilliant book check it out

all photos scanned from the book

Keep Your Eye On Errol

He is from bournemouth  and seems to be now in London. He takes great photos on film, and is really the only hip english photographer at the moment. His got that unique british style. Recently working with high street shops such as TopShop his making a name for him self. Also he is brilliant at directing a music video. Working tightly with the great band Splashh, directing all there videos to date. Check out his blog here which has some great pictures and check out his vimeo for some of his vids. Keep your eye on Errol Rainey
